The Program

The Master in Advanced Finance is a 12-month program that targets professionals with 2-5 years of experience in finance or other professional fields such as engineering, law or business administration. Participants will undertake a one-year full-time program designed to refocus or accelerate their career on the financial world and who aspire to work in the finance industry as associate. Either if your background is finance or not, the Master in Advanced Finance will allow you to embark an ambitious career in the financial world by equipping you with the most advanced fields of today’s finance, including behavioural finance, financial stability, commodities, microcredits, Islamic finance or equity derivatives.

CFA Designation

The three part CFA exam, when passed entitles a person to become a “CFA Charterholder”. The CFA certificate has become a basic requirement for individuals who work as investment analysts, portfolio managers and other investment decision-makers employed by investment firms, banks, broker/dealers, investment companies, insurance companies and other finance agencies. Classes for the CFA I are optional for all graduates on the Master in Advanced Finance

You

The Master in Advanced Finance will equip you to work in the most advanced fields of today’s finance, including private equity, value at risk, m&a or fixed income and equity derivatives. Moreover the program will cover up-to-the-minute fields that play a critical role in the finance world, such as emerging markets, current global economic issues, financial entrepreneurship, arbitrage strategies and how to invest in markets. The master will also furnish you with the practical applied knowledge you will need to succeed as a financier, including financial modelling, presentation skills, ethical dilemmas or negotiation.

Your program

The program employs a highly practical approach. You will not only be asked to assimilate knowledge, but also to apply it to financial markets, demonstrating your capacity to generate profits using your skills. You could also be required to select investment opportunities for private equity firms, analyze these opportunities, value them, and present a finance plan private equity investor. Additionally, our open sessions will bring the opportunity to meet industry experts from all the fields of finance, affording relevant contact with the business world.

Requirements

To be considered for admission, a candidate must have successfully completed the following prior to submission:

  • A Bachelor degree at an accredited college/university (or equivalent).
  • GMAT* exam. The test result from this exam is a prerequisite for admission.
  • An English language certificate is required for all non-native English-speaking applicants (100 ibt, 250 computer-based or 600 TOEFL**, 800 TOIEC, 7 IELTS or Cambridge Advanced). This requirement does not apply if you can demonstrate one of the following:
    • Two years work experience in an English speaking country
    • Undergraduate degree completed in English.
  • A complete application for evaluation by the Admissions Committee, including all supporting documents.

Course Fees

Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of 120€ to cover administrative costs.

The tuition fees for the Master in Advance Finance total €35,000 + €1,100 (contribution to the IE Business School Foundation).

Admission is valid for two years, allowing the successful applicant up to two years to reserve a place on an intake, thus allowing students to plan their experience. To reserve a place on the Master in Finance, intake students are required to make a deposit equivalent to 20% of the total program fees + the contribution to the IE Business School Foundation.
